The construction of the Oceanhamnen district creates a new neighbourhood on the sunny side of the Öresund. A section of the Helsingborg coastline is being transformed from an area of industrial docks into a new residential and commercial district in direct contact with the sea. The city centre is extending westward towards the waters of the Öresund, providing space for housing, offices, parks, squares and waterside promenades.
Oceanhamnen is part of H+, which is Helsingborg's largest urban renewal project in modern times. The vision for Oceanhamnen is one of an urban archipelago in the heart of the city; offering the most attractive waterfront accommodation in the Öresund region. An important piece of the puzzle in that vision is the construction of Oceanön, an artificial island in the harbour basin between the Ocean and Oslo piers.

JM has been given a unique opportunity to develop Oceanön after submitting the winning proposal in a land allocation competition organised by the City of Helsingborg. The commission includes the planning and execution of both the artificial island and the residential units. Work is still in progress on the detailed development plan for Oceanön, and the material displayed in this exhibition is made up of preliminary sketches and architectural renderings.

In the middle of Oceanhamnen, between the Ocean and Oslo piers, JM plans to develop an artificial island with modern residential neighbourhoods, squares, quaysides and vibrant meeting places for residents and visitors.
On Oceanön we are planning new housing for both the existing and future citizens of Helsingborg, with a firm focus on sustainability and circularity. About 200 homes are to be created in three courtyard developments. We want to make space for varying designs and sizes of home, with different forms of tenure (tenant-ownership and freehold apartments).
Oceanön's distinctive silhouette will catch the eye from afar, whether it is approached on foot, by ferry, sailing boat or cargo ship. At the same time, the island will unite the different parts of Oceanhamnen with its bridges, quaysides, streets and squares.
Oceanön's architecture will have a distinct identity that has its origin in the world of the port. By dividing the neighbourhoods into characteristic building types, Boathouse, Warehouse, Canal House and Townhouse, we want to tell a story that is unique to Oceanön.
On Oceanön we want to offer modern housing with all the sought after features in living close to the sea.
The Boathouses, facing the quaysides and the harbour to the north and south, will have apartments for those looking for beautiful views and plenty of light. With generous, glazed outdoor environments, we will create space to grow plants and to enjoy your surroundings all year round.
The Townhouses are tall terraced houses with quiet, sheltered terraces and patios that face both the neighbourhood alley and the green courtyards.
For those who want direct contact with the water, we are creating Canal Houses along the quayside, possibly with their own doorstep moorings. A taste of Venice in a functional Nordic mould.
The Warehouses stand to attention along Oceanön's avenue, taking the form of classic dockside warehouses. They will contain urban residential units with a great deal of variation in design and size.
At Pakhustorget to the south west, there will be steps down to the water with seating that catches the best of the sun. There will also be the glazed Torghuset building, which will be able to house commercial premises and services for visitors and residents.
